Oliver super 55 battery cables

Looking to replace the battery cables on my Super 55. Is there a specific set I ought to be looking for or just something that matches the length I have from battery to starter and as well the other side? The end that connects to the starter is rusted and turns red when I run the starter so that tells me I have a poor connection there. It needs replacement and I'd like to get something that works right the first time. Any help?

Have to ask that and I'm not sure. Built in 55 if that helps. But not sure what it is (6 or 12) as I'm not where the tractor is.

Take your old cables to a local shop that custom makes cables and have them make you a set with 1GA WELDING cable, not battery cable. The welding cable will be smaller diameter and more flexible but carry as much current as 2-0 BATTERY cable.

If it's gas,it's 6 from the factory,if it's a diesel it's 12. A gas could have been changed over by now.

'Turns red' is not necessarily anything to do with the lead. It could just be a poor connection, not a duff lead. Cleaning the contact surfaces might be the quick, simple and cost-free solution. An alternative might be to remove that connection and run solder (and plenty of flux) into the joint. Simple dignosis is far better than replacing serviceable parts and still having a problem (probably not the case here as you would think that the new cable was the cure).

Thanks guys for the help. I guess I'll take it off and have a look for another one. Saw Korves and they have a set for the 55. Thanks for the post for them. I'll look near home fist though. Then if I can't find what I'm looking for I'll try there. Parts book says there were two lengths I think 18" and 21. Assuming that the lengths were for either side of the tractor right? Anyway I'll take the cable off and off to NAPA or some place like it for a replacement.

As to fixing this well if you saw it you all would say replace it. If I touch it or bend it in any way it may be for the last time. I doubt it comes off in one piece when I do take it off. The starter end is the worst. Yes likely also a connection issue but new and some emery cloth to clean things up will do wonders for connection. This is also how I get power back to the battery and if has a time of it getting there to start the tractor it also will have the same issue building it back up. I need to use and keep this running so new is the way I'm going to go.
