1550 drawbar

What was the original diameter of the hole. I'm setting it up to pull my 1207 MoCo and the hole is worn egg-shape front to back. Looks like 1-1/16 across and about 1/4 inch worn of the top surface. The 1207 hitch pin is 1-1/8 and doesn't quite go in.

I don't know exactly what it was,but on my 1850,I had to use the torch and blow the sides of the hole out a little to get the pin in for my new Kuhn disc mower/conditioner. The 2-105 didn't have much wear front and rear so I had to clean that one out all the way around.

Instead of making the hole wider just grind a little off the pin on the haybine. I've also seen a few 1207 changed to a conventional drawbar .

rrlund, as a Kuhn Rep, I can tell you there is an optional smaller pin avail to remedy your situation, if not too late.
TKS for choosing Kuhn!

Don't you have to have the whole other hitch to use a smaller pin,or is there a bushing that goes in the hole? Too late anyway,I've already burned the holes out on those two tractors, and the one in the 2-135 is already large enough.

I know some don't like it but I don't mind the equal angle hitch. I'm going to open up the hole. I won't take much, I just have to find a sharp round file.

Good luck. Yours will still be heat treated and very hard, unlike rrlund's! His will likely work harden anyway. Far better to mill the hole with a suitable cutter.

I found out just how hard. It doesn't need much and I have a carbide cutter for my Dremel. The top surface is worn at an angle. What electrode should I use to build it up? I was told 7013.

I have never seen or used 7013 so can not comment on it.

6013 will cut as close to virgin mild steel with a carbide burr in a dremel of any welding electrode I have ever tried. So if the goal is to have something easy to shape with the dremel then 6013 is great.

7014 would work too and be shapeable but not as easy to shape as 6013 but runs splendid on an old AC buzzbox.

7018 or 7018AC I use so rarely, and never reshape it so not sure on these but I spect they would work fine too.

Are you a weldor (Lincoln spelling). I worked at Lincoln over 40 years but don't know much about welding. The guy who welded my PTO splines told me about the 7013 but I may be misremembering. I tried the Dremel with a 1/8 carbide burr this morning, durn thing is HARD. I'm just going to drop a 1" pin in it.

Total Hack of a welder when it comes to skillset, but I do get by welding on my hobby stuff okay.

That said, I am decently informed when it comes to book theory and book know how on welding.
