1650 clutch hydra power question

I am replacing a clutch in a 1650 I bought. The p/o ran it so long with a failed throw out bearing that it wore out the hub it presses on and worked the tube on the hydra power loose that the bearing assembly slides on. I built up the hub and turned it down but my concern is the tube. I expanded it a little and reinstalled it. It seemed to go in tight my question is if the hub has a shoulder that limits how far it will press in? It feels like it is up against something solid. Right now it extends 3 3/4 inches, there is a half inch between the splines and the tube. If anyone would have one to look at or knows from experience I would appreciate your input. Also wondering if I should tack it to the housing with nickel.

just seen your post, i have my 2-70 apart which is a 3 speed hydra shift, i looked at mine my tube is 4 inches long, and i have an inch and 9/16 of spline sticking past the tube. Hope this helps.
