Upper cross shaft seal leak?

Very strange seal leak in my upper left hand side of the cros shaft. I had replaced the the seal this last winter and have got about 30 to 40 hours on it and hadn't had a leak until just recently. I have 10w -30 weight motor oil in it now and I'm thinking with the triple digit temps out here in Calif. could be vthe reason. Now once the tractor 55 oliver is shut off the leak stops. the little vent just under the seat is free of any such material to keep it from breathing. I'm not sure thought I'd just drive it some more. The level is right at full with the tractor running and the 3 point all the way up and the dipstick just sitting on top of the casting. Need a little bail out here Farmers, Thanks..

I have replaced mine before. First, make sure the shaft is very smooth with no burs. I had to smooth mine out. Next, make sure the seal is
in correctly with the lip towards the oil. Also, I run 80/90 oil in mine. Northern MN weather from sub zero to 90+ I think in California
I'd be running something heavier than 10-30.

Yeah man I'd like to get away with running 80/90 weight gear lube but that isn't whats called out in my manual. Thats what I am running in the lower transmission shafts, final drives etc. etc.. Possibly I'll give it a try?

I'm sorry, I was thinking the lower cross shaft that the brake pedals pivot on. I guess you said upper cross shaft. I guess that would be the larger one that the three point lift arms are connected to. My
manual shows a lip seal and a bushing in there. As for fluid for the hydraulics I use Universal Trans/Hyd fluid. It is about the same consistency as your 10-30 or thinner.
Good Luck
