USX 32 on 1800 C

I'm still helping a neighbor get his 1800 running and stay running, and we have narrowed the problem down to the carburetor (fuel). It is set well, runs great, for about 20-30 minutes. At this point, it will die. It is still getting good spark at the plugs, so that is eliminated. Vacuum checks at the manifold are good upon proper adjustment. I'm confident that the carburetor and ignition are set well and it runs like that.

Fuel is getting to the lift pump. Fuel is getting from the lift pump to the carburetor. Fuel surges well from the lift pump to the carb.

However, I have no experience with a USX 32. My experience with TSX carbs would be that the needle valve was plugged.

I took the bottom screw under the carb out and get very little fuel out of the carb. I have done no further disassembly.

Can someone help with what is likely the problem with the carburetor and why it will seem to get fuel and run for 20-30 minutes, but then not run for more than a minute or two. The carb was rebuilt in the last 5 years or so at Denny's Carb shop (I advised the prior owner of this tractor to have it rebuilt then.) It didn't solve his similar problems with the tractor, but he didn't really follow up with me after the rebuild and then just sold it. The current owner bought it from the buyer between them.

Hope this makes some sense. Just looking for some ideas before I remove the carb and open it up.

Thanks

If it we,re me, I'd make sure you're getting a good flow from the tank to the carb. Might be something in the tank outlet, or the tank itself that obstructing the line.

I ran fuel out clear to the carb with what would seem like little to no obstruction. Of course, murphy's law could take over and the obstruction would present itself right after I felt comfortable with the
flow.

Have any of you tried running directly from the sediment bowl to the carb, eliminating the pump on the other side of the tractor? Is the pump really necessary? I read through some of the archives on here and
some suggest doing that on deeres.

I called an old Oliver dealer to ask him what to do to mine to get it to run, and he said to get them to run they had to put the biggest electric pump on they could find, 5 to 9 pound is what he recommended. It helped a lot and I went strait from sediment bowl to the carb with the pump in between. But didn't fix it till solved the icing issue.

I am basically with Wondergem here. You say your getting fuel to the carb but when you pull the plug you get very little gas. A reasonable amount should come out or it can't work.

I help maintain a 1800B with the stock fuel pump and a USX carb. It still runs and pulls good with points for the ignition. It's biggest problem is rust formed in the tank and would plug the outlet. We would take the sediment bowel out and poke the rust out.

I finally added an extension to the sediment bowel inlet to help keep the rust at bay. You can't run it as low but that hasn't been a problem.

sounds like a bad float in the carb, it might have a small hole. When it sits the fuel in the carb drops allowing the float to dry out. When it runs the float is immersed in gas, as it fills it begins to bury the needle shutting off the gas. The carbs are very simple but must be set right.

I think there is a replacement Zenith carb for the 32 if your up to the cost. There is a guy who promises to rebuild them better than new on the net, goes by "Denny's carb" He isn't cheap, I've been tempted to send mine in, but for now it's running well. I have a 37.
