Hi all, I've searched and come up with no infomation, there is an online action here in MN lots and lots of old tractors implements etc must are in very tuff condition but I'm curious to know about the Olivers the numbers they are listed as are 38-1659 371587 (I'm thinking a 770) 38-1406 and 88-1608 can some provide me with the model numbers?

PS is there a download document that decodes the numbers?

Some of the numbers that you listed are OK, some don't make sense.  The first two digits indicate the model,"38" is an 880.   A model "38" is for the early 880 with the spur gear transmission.  "48" is the later with the helical gear transmission.   "88" is not a good model number.

The four remaining digits indicate how the tractor was equipped when it was assembled in the plant.   I'm sure you can imagine the possible combinations with AG and Industrial models.  The answer to that question has gone to the grave yard.
