Team Oliver - Looking for some plow info

Bought my first plow Saturday. Wasn't sure what I was getting. I was doing a google search and found this one just like it.

If what I have found is correct it shows to be an Oliver 346 3 bottom.

Were these made by Oliver or someone else? I see some green paint on it and a lot of either faded red or orange had to tell.

Also what is the lever used for?

I have never used a turning plow only small 3 point 1 row cultivators and 5 foot disks so any info you guys could help me with would be great.

Not going to use this to plow a lot of acres probably about 2 - 2.5 for a large food plot. Will be pulling with my Mahindra 4550 50HP diesel.

Thanks in advanced for your help.

Oliver corporation started with a man named James Oliver; who made really good plows; and yours is a fine
example of one made by Oliver Corporation.

Probably perfectly sized for your 50hp tractor. The lever is probably a means to level the plow when you need to
either run one wheel in the furrow or run out of it.

Thank you for that info. I will try to find the manuals for it. I have a friend that grew up farming that told me he would help me get it setup correctly.

I will try to post some pics after I get to using it even though that will probably be sometime in the fall.

619 series bottoms are designed to work best plowing at 1/2 the bottom cutting width and 4-1/2 MPH. The easiest way to set up a mounted plow is to put in on the tractor, run the land wheels of the tractor up on 3 or 4 chunks of 2x10 depending on your selected plowing depth, and then adjust your top link and side links so the plow is level both side to side and front to back.

That lever is probably to set the direction the plow is pointed. Move it forward or back to make the front bottom cut wider or narrower. IanC's method of leveling the plow will get you in the ballpark before you put it in the ground.

Everyone thanks for the info. I will post some pics of it plowing when I get to that this fall. Will be turning over some ground that has not seen a plow in about 30-40 years.

Thanks again to everyone for the info.
