1600 Three Point Wont Go Down

Went to use my 1600 on the rotary hoe today and while driving out to hook it up out of nowhere without me touching anything the three point went all the way hard to the end of its stroke and the leaver locked up tight in the up position. The pump kept moaning so even though it was at the end of its stroke the three point was still trying to go up. Messed with it a little and the draft control linkage was all bound up to. Had field work to get done so I said screw it and went and hopped on another tractor. Went back down to the barn this evening and the three point had drifted down a tad and the leaver had freed up. Started the tractor up to try it the three point would go up but not down. I am thoroughly confused on this one cause it worked fine last night while I was using it. All I did was unhook the hoe and put it in the barn for the night, then went to use it this morning and this happened. Any ideas?

Is the free play on the lift arms set properly? With the arms at the top of the stroke you should be able to push the arms up another 1/2 to 1 inch by hand. Or maybe something in the control linkage slipped off or broke.
