over-under leaking oil on white 2-70

My white 2-70 has an oil leak at the rear of the over under. Couple questions are can I continue using if I keep the oil level up until I have time to get it repaired? Also what kind of oil does it require and would a thicker oil work to help slow the leak? Thanks

I'd be afraid of damaging the clutches if you used heavier oil. Did they call for Hytran type in those or automatic transmission fluid? I know they switched to the Hytran type because in the larger tractors, the auto trans fluid was too thin and they were taking bearings out. You'd be OK with the Hytran if you're using ATF now. One thing I have tried is Lucas additive with ATF. I had limited success.
As long as you keep track of it,it'll be OK with it leaking as long as it doesn't get too low. I don't know if I'd risk it too long. If you start grinding up metal parts,it can get expensive. I wouldn't overfill it either, that causes them to heat up.

I would definitely replace that seal now, it doesn't take much time. Pull long pto/hydraulics drive shaft, remove radiator, lift engine and O/U out together, replace seal, and reverse.

Can easily be done in 1-2 hours, if you're a capable mechanic. If you're a "can-get-it-done" kinda guy without a lot of mechanic skill, can still do it in one long evening.
