Clark Forklift

Did Clark use 550 engines in their forklifts? Had a customer ask about an overhaul on his and I expected to see a Continental. When he opened the engine covers, it looks to be a Super 55/550 engine. It looks to have a few minor casting differences on the block, but otherwise looks the same.

yes they used 155 and a 176 4 cyl waukesha engine. The 176 looks like the 155 with few casting differences, also it should be know that there are 3 different rod journal sizes that those engines can be in those forklifts. Been there before. I have a source to get parts if need.

Thanks for the replies. Don't know when I may dig into it, likely not till winter. It is in pretty heavy use during warmer months. It runs good, just blue smokes pretty bad.

Thanks, but the minor differences look like a tractor engine wouldn't work well. The major one being the dipstick is on the other side, the normal tractor position would be hard to get to in this forklift. It also looks to have differences in the waterpump area.

If you need any parts, I have a complete propane D176 engine, minus the crank, pistons and rods. The block and head are excellent.

I am in western Pa, but there are ways to get the parts to you.

Thanks
Rich
