Oliver Super 55 has water in the oil

After being in the shed all winter, I got the Super 55 out today to do a little springtime maintenance. The radiator was empty and the oil sump full of water/anti-freeze.
I really don't know where to start. Last year I replaced the water pump, and it is now seized although I don't see a connection between the seized (new) water pump and the water in the oil.
Everything is draining at the moment. I don't know if there are freeze plugs in the head (my 60 rowcrop had them and created a similar situation a couple of years ago).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is a 1955 early version that I use regularly to brush-hog during the summer.
Thanks-
Mike

Well it looks like there are soft plugs in the head, so the easiest thing to do is remove the valve cover and have a look. Next step would be to pull off the pan and see if there's water getting past the O rings. The tractor runs really well...... doesn't smoke and has good oil pressure. Would be a pity to have to tear it apart.

I bought one a few years ago for $1000. It had been getting water in the oil. The guy thought it was the head. He bought another one,had it all reconditioned,it was still getting water in it. I pulled the sleeves and the O-rings were shot. The block was pitted pretty bad too. Instead of using soap for a lubricant when I put it together,I used pipe dope compound. I let it sit and harden up for several days before I put water in it. It's never leaked a drop.

Well apparently I dodged a bullet this time.
One of the freeze plugs in the cylinder head was completely shot. A new 1" plug and the old gal is hopefully good for another few years of service.
