Oliver 1650 Carb Help

Setting the carb on my early 1650 gas. I believe the carb is a Marvel Schebler TSX 807. I am looking for baseline settings for idle and main fuel mixture screws. Of course my 550 and 1850 manuals list baseline settings, but my 1650 Oliver and I&T manuals do not. Just looking for a good place to start.

Secondly, the idle mixture screw appears to be in great shape. Runs down smoothly and seats as it should. The main fuel mixture screw, on the other hand, was difficult to run down and I am not feeling a definite bottoming of that screw. I took it out and the threads look beat up. I am going to inspect the bore threads in the carb tonight. A few searches online did not turn up much in the way of a new main fuel mixture screw. Anyone know of a source for a new screw?

Thanks in advance.

I think the general rule of thumb for just about any carburetor is 1 1/2 turns out on the screws, and adjust from there.

A.J. Boellner Tractor and Mower in Maumee Ohio was once an Oliver dealer, the old guys are still there and they haven't let me down yet. One of them can answer your question. They have a web page with contact info. Had my M.S. 37 rebuilt by them.
