another 66 question

Hi again, the parts 66 we have has what looks like an option to attach cultivators, it is right beside the gear shift and is operated with a pedal. The 66 were restoring never had this option and the belt pulley lever would have to be replaced to swap it as well. Would the lifting mechanism be worth swapping over since this family tractor never had it and we do not have a set of cultivators to put on it right now? I guess it would come down to personal preference in the end but if I'd be a fool not to swap it over I'd certainly consider doing it. Thank you for any input.

Actually, that flat delete plate that yours probably has is a sought after item by tractor pullers. It eliminates a lot of un needed weight and some power drag. If you don't have any of the implements anyway, there's no need to put a cultivator lift on it.

You are talking about a mechanical lift.   It runs off of the transmission input shaft and requires a longer shaft as it extends back of the rear bearing where the drive gear will mount.   On a tractor with the hydraulic pump has a short shaft.   If you don't have to long shaft for the drive gear the mechanical lift will not operate.   John S will recall cutting off the end of the shaft when converting from Mechanical lift to hydraulic as I do.

Was the 66 different in respect to that shaft than the Super 77 was? I bought a Super 77 one time that had that delete plate. I went to Worthington and bought a pump out of a 770,took off the plate, took out that carrier and dropped the pump in. I put the shaft back in without doing anything to it.

I kinda like our fleetline Olivers with the delete plate. If you happen to be on it for an extended time, you have a bit of extra room to stretch out.

OK,ya. I'd forgot about having to cut that off. Has to be cut to go from mechanical lift to hydraulic doesn't it?

I took the power lift off my 1951 Fleetline 66 , sawed the shaft off with hacksaw blade with engine running, put a super 66 hyd system on it and never regretted it.
