2-105 pto shaft

I think I really messed up. When I put the pto driveshaft in it kicked back due to snap ring failure now it wonk go inenough to get new one in or come out. Lacks about 1/2inch of all in and only comes back to where it is out about a foot out of the back. I know it is hitting another set of spines. Light taps won't get it in all the way nor will pulling with a light 1 inch strap get it out. Should I make a bracket for a sidle hammer or what? I am afraid the spines may have got damaged when it disengaged. Thanks for any help

Your 2 sets of splined don't line up in the PTO Some people use an impac wrench to viberate the shaft so it lines up. I used to just turn the output shaft with PTO shaft pushed back in place.

I pulled one once where I had to put the handle off the slide hammer on a piece of 1/2 inch threaded rod with a nut on it.
