1655/1855 Clutch Interchange? (Diesels)

I know the 1655 has a 12" clutch and the 1855 has a 13". Both use basically the same block. (for starter location) Can a 1655 use the 13"? If not a direct fit, can a flywheel from the 1855 fit in the 1655 housing? We are wanting to add a little beef for plow days by using the 310 crank as well as turbo, complete assembly built right and balanced. I am sure the stock clutch will be the weak link if I have to run a 12" so may have to go to someone that makes pulling clutches if that is the case. I have also built or worked on a few other colors with double disc clutch so that may be another option.

an 856 IH has a 12" clutch and will pull more than you are going to, Hy-Capacity can build a pressure plate with more spring pressure

It can be done, but you need to use the 1855 bell housing and some other parts. I've done it several times. Going to a 13" is better than trying to beef up a 12" clutch.

The bell fits in the tub and on the 3 speed, you need the 1855 back plate, a cross shaft from a 1950T or 2150, a White American 60/80 pto hub re-drilled to bolt in the 1855 flywheel, a bushing to reduce the 60/80 pilot bearing down to the 1655 input shaft, a 1855 throwout hub that has been sleeved down to fit the 1655 pilot tube, a normal 1855 pressure plate and a 1855 clutch disc with the smaller 1655 center in it.
