White 2-105 Shifting Proplems

Our White 2-105 was caught between gears when I tried to shift it with a load pulling on it. We spent the weekend rearing apart it apart to get access to the transmission cover. We realigned the shift rails and replaced everything. We drove it around the barnyard and it shifted and drove fine.

The other day we were getting ready to attach it to the planter when it did the same thing. Now the shift rails are not aligned and I can't get them aligned with a screwdriver or pry bar. It looks like we'll have to remove everything again and get back into the transmission to align them again.

Obviously something isn't right inside there. The bottom of the shifter doesn't appear to have too much wear on it, the bolts that hold the shifting forks seem to be tight, at least the ones we can reach, and there doesn't appear to be wear on the grooves in the shifting rails.

Right now it is sitting in the shop disassembled, we don;t want to reassemble it only to have the same thing happen again. Although, on the bright side, I'm getting good at disassembly. It only took me one hour forty five minutes to get the top of the transmission off.

I cannot really explain this, but I had my 1855 do this one time. We removed the shifter lever and got everything back in line and it did it again. The shifter did not look to have any wear to speak of.
However, I ended up replacing it and it has never done it again.

I don't know why such little wear would have caused this to happen, but that cured it for me.

I welded mine up once when it happened twice in a month. I used a caliper and made it 0.010 inches thicker than the non worn part. It has never done it again.

How much of a gap did you leave between the knob at the end of the shifter and the edges of the slot in the shift rails?
