Hi,
Does anyone know how to adjust the steering freely on an Oliver 1600 backhoe/loader? It has the hydraulic power steering (integral to the overall hydraulic system. When the front wheels are off the ground, I can move them 3" either way without the steering wheel turning. I can see the steering arm moving with the tie rods, but there seems to be too much play between the steering arm and the steering wheel. The steering wheel is connected to a hydraulic valve body which must allow hydraulic fluid to flow to some sort of piston which actuates the steering arm. That is the part I can't really see.
It's hard to maneuver the machine with that much slack in the steering.
Thanks for any help
