1850 and a 1800 swap

You will be going backwards. The 1800s were known to have major bull pinion and bull gear problems. They went through 3 different sets of gears in those tractors and never did get it right until the 1750. We had to put a new set of gears in the rear end of our 1800 because better than 50% of the tooth surface had flaked off all the way around on the bull pinions which in turn wiped out the bull gears.

the main input shaft in the transmission is locked up tight. The previous owner ran the rear low on oil, and locked it up in high gear. The main shaft will not buge a bit. The 1800 is a B series the engine is junk but the rear is good, so I was trying to make even swap with only time, and not too much money involved. So the million dollar question is can they be swapped with no issues?

If you have or can get, or make up some splitting stands, I would rather switch housings.
Done it both ways and it was quite a bit easier splitting the tractor. The only thing we did was to put some heat to 8 point frame bolts. I know they say not to heat, but never had a problem with cracks or breakage. Tractors done were not babied(ie got the H... beat out of them).
