brake pedal stop pin

The pin snapped off, I have the broken end. The break looks like it's a casting but the OD surface looks like it's cold rolled. Is it pressed into the support, or maybe brazed in? Can I remove it to repair or replace? I really don't want to use the torch that close to the gas tank. I was going to take the whole support off. I got the pedal shaft out and all the linkages loose. When I lifted the dash I found the steering lines go through the top of the support casting. So, several questions:

1. Can the stub of the pin be pulled out? I'm thinking of putting a tapped hole through it to pull it out. That's a no-go if it's brazed in.

2. If I take the tank off can I hoist the entire dash and steering off as a unit to remove the support? That would mean disconnecting the lines
but the system is already drained. The tank has a little rust and needs a cleaning anyway.

3. Any other suggestions?

If you want to pull the dash and leave the steering unit on it so you don't have to take the lines off, just loosen the lock nut and take out the pivot bolt. You'll have to take off the steering wheel is all so you can pull the shaft through the dash.

I want to leave the dash and steering together and suspend it so I can take the lower support off. The support has a top surface and the line run through an opening.

Don't know what model your working on but i have taken a big hammer and punch and drove the piece on through the support. That was on a 2-70 and 1655, good luck AL

1550. I can't see in there with all the dirt and oil and could not feel a hole on the inside so I assumed it was in a blind hole. I'll take a better look tomorrow. Thanks, Al.

Mike, I have the lower part for a 1650 farm tractor kicking around here also. I can get you a picture of it if you need something. Greg

Thanks, greg. I cleaned the pin up and it looks like just a 5/8 hardened dowel. I decided to leave it for now. Too many other thing to get done before haying starts. Would you happen to have a shaft for the hydraulic pump idler gear, the T-shaped one? I need the shaft and snap ring. Same one was used on the 1650.

Mike, I don't know what condition its in the unit is still on the tractor. Maybe John knows where one is that's closer to you. Justin Meyer who sells parts in the want ads I bet has one and he's reasonable. I bought a couple small things off him and I'm in N.Y. and he's in MN.
