starting a 1950 Detroit after setting a few years

I recently purchased a 1950 4-53 GM was gonna try to start it but I no they are known for running off with there rpms if the rack isn't free also was wondering how many row crop models were made and maybe a value thanks

have experienced a couple. Take the air cleaner off and have something, like a piece of 1/2 inch plywood, larger than the air cleaner inlet, ready to slap over the inlet if she does. Shuts off the air.

Should have a emergency shut off on it. Be sure it works
