white 2-135 steering

is there a easy way to adjust the steering on my white 2-135 so it wont turn so short? my sandy ground likes to grab the front tires and they did in and wont turn unless you hit the brakes. afraid I wont catch it in time and will snap a front axle, so thought if it did not turn as short might help that out.

Not sure this is the best fix but if you notice there are cast stops on the outer cast axle spindle which acts as a stop for the distance of travel of the inner axle spindle. I noticed on mine someone had welded a bolt on each outer spindle by this stop to prevent the axle from turning as far. This would prevent the lockup you are having.

It's possible your stops or the bushings in the outer housing could be getting worn and allowing the axle to move enough to miss these stops and travel too far on a turn.

Others might have a better idea however.

One of the stops at the bottom of a spindle broke on mine one time. I remember I was plowing or something and hit a furrow maybe, but I can remember it coming around way too far. It was still hanging when I noticed that was the problem. I straightened it out and welded it back on.

thanks, I saw those but really never looked to see if they were broke or wore. will check that out first. guess one could bronze something on there to limit the stop.
thanks
Gary
