We had our injection pump rebuilt and were going back together. I am having a difficult time finding how to time this hunk of metal. I know the firing order(153624), however, which cylinder is # 1, #,2 and so on? If I have the timing mark on the flywheel set to TDC, does that guarantee me I'm on the compression stroke, or is it possible I could be on the exhaust stroke and needing to roll another 180 degrees?
Also, what is the firing order of the injection pump. My pump has markings of "CC", which I assume means, the fuel is disperse in a counterclockwise fashion. Where is #1, #2 and so on, on the pump itself?...any input would be greatly appreciated...our service manuals do not help much, and we don't have a operators manual

You are making this WAY too difficult!. #1 cylinder is the front cylinder. Do you have either the injectors out of the valve cover off? Did you line up the two lines in the timing window of the pump? Answer that first and post a phone number. J.

We do not have the injection pump on yet, still trying to figure this all out. Ph# 319-444-0261

I'm with J., did you time it before you took the pump off? If not align the shaft dot and the internal pump dots and install the pump. Then align the pump timing marks and see where the flywheel is. Remember the pump turns 1/2 engine speed, just because the flywheel mark is right the pump can be 1/2 off.
