On my 88d there is 4 bolts about half down the pump if I take these out and pull it in half will I have to time it when I pt it back together I need have a little work done on it thanks

I cab think of only one place where there are 4 bolts, 1 place where there are 5 bolts and of course the 3 bolts that attach it to the engine. IF you and I are thinking about the 4 bolts that hold the hydraulic head on the pump you need to take a lot more items off plus the pump must be turned to one specific place before it can come apart. You have pictures of what you want to do? J.

Thanks John I'll get a picture tomorrow the reason I'm pulling it where the throttle and shut off cable attach the rod that goes onto the pump slides in and out about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch I think its a snap ring that's allowing this but because of this the shut off can't be hooked up so if you go to slow the engine down to fast it will kill the engine

You are talking about the governor and there are 5 1/4 inch bolts, not 4 + you need to unhook the link to the control unit. You have something else wrong. If it does not leak oil you need to adjust it. Also do you have the little chain hooked to the shut off cable?

I don't have the chain hooked up because it pulls itself off the wire or bends it I think it is leaking a little oil
