just an update on the 310 rods / machine shop problem , after 1 year & lots of complaining they finally got them done , ended up buying 2 used rod ( they claimed 2 of mine where junk but engine ran fine cost $100 core ) 3 rods have oversize bushing 3 dont , new bolts they claimed only could be obtained from AGCO for $17 each , tryed to charge me $1300 total , of course i complained so they took $300 off the bill & gave me a free T-shirt ( grease rag now) , never gave me my 2 so called junk rods or old bolts back , they gave me every exscuse & reason for the bill they could , i just payed the ransome & left , ive never been so glad to be ripped off in my life just to end all dealings with this shop , sounds nuts but true im glad its over , will never go back . its sad that a shop made me feel that way i think.

Just my 2 cents, but I would take my rotating assembly to a GOOD shop and have it balanced. HUGE difference.

Hey had a simular situation had a B jd block priced to be rebored got quote when went to pick up it was 3 times the quoted price. So I complained they did knock of 40.00 dollars, but I told them I would never be back. I would let people know who It was and what they Had done word of mouth goes a long way. But since that incident have found a reasonable shop and quick turn around. As far as your situation on 310 oliver rods and bolts. I purchsed bushings for my rods on my 310 for 4.33 each 2 used rods for 50.00 and rod bolts from advantage engine parts at cost of 5.51 each part # for rod bolts 20-700-2212 he installed and set bushing sized bushings and rod for a price of 150.00 with a week turn around. I know this would not help your situation but people need to know how we feel about getting RIPPED OFF. Hope this helps Larry

I would have made them give me back my old parts or not pay. I know your situation, but they probably sold them or used them. They were your rods and that would be considered stealing, right? At work, I never throw away any parts until the customer pays his bill and leaves. Most of the time I get a quote before any machine work is done anywhere. Then if they come back with a higher price with no reason, then your not taken across. My uncle I'm sure had an Allis WD45 diesel block repaired there I'm pretty sure. I ought to ask him if he had any issues.

Second the balancing while you are at it. Think when a restored tractor is taken to a show or in a parade it would be nice to have a placard to give credit to the good shops that were used in the restoration.
