Does the Hydrapower cooler tend to leak?

Seeing a small amount of emulsified oil in my 1650 coolant. No coolant in the oil. Before checking the more common causes like the head gasket, are the hydrapower coolers known to leak into the coolant?

I thought they were separate systems.

J. this '67 1650D has 1/2 inch coolant hoses running from the thermostat housing to a heat exchanger where fluid lines from the hydrapower unit tap into it and get cooled.

Well I worked for a dealer till 1976 and we replaced one or 2 of them up to that time out of over 100 units. Simple thing to do is pressure test the unit and see.

You were there during the period when the 4-digit series came in and right up until the end, correct? Would have loved to work at a dealer in the 60s/70s. I will test for leaks - thanks.

Started in the summer of 1960, left in 76.
