perkins 6.354

what is the difference of a perkins 6.354 UA or MA block? also wondering what 6.354-2 means vs. 6.354-4. looking at rebuilding one for my massey combine.
thanks
Gary

How well do you know your Perkins. UA is an engine made in the UK for agriculture purpose. I don't have my code book for the letter M handy. The original Perkins 354 engine like in an Oliver 1850 was a dot 0. As they made change you had Dot 1, 2, 3 & 4 engines. Lot of differences in some of them. There are over 100 different crankshaft numbers alone!

mine is in a 510 massey combine. done have the entire number with me but know it's UA as that is the one question I got asked from a fella that might have had a crank. will the block actually have 6.354.1 or .2 and so on?

Those 354 Perkins engines musta been one of the most confusing things ever built, esp for the parts, mechanics and the end user, just look at them in all the various uses, and it seems that no 2 look alike, and YES I have a 2-105 White and that has been a tough sucker, 1975 model and still going.

$500 stops about every 510 diesel at auctions and usually the engine runs good yet, if you could buy a 510 for the engine you would also have a parts donor
