I'm looking to purchase an Oliver 550 with a front end loader from my neighbor that's been sitting in his field for the past 3 years. It appears to be in decent shape. Replaced the coil, had no spark, rebuilt the carburetor, fired right up. Loader seems to work well. Right brake appears to be locked up could not get it to move, but the left tire was spinning trying to move. Tires are in fair shape, power steering cylinders look like they may be leaking. I have not been able to determine what year its is. Model number is 55-2118, serial number is 162278-01. I've tried looking it up but can't find it anywhere. Appreciate any help, also wondering what would a fair price be?

It is a 1965 tractor. You are missing one number out of the last 3 which is the gear train code 162 278 is the serial number

Great Thanks! Any thoughts on what the fair market value might be is on this tractor?

No, but does it have: a drawbar, power steering , or a remote outlet for operating a cylinder or any other options? How good are the tires?

The swinging draw bar is missing, the loader is not an Oliver factory original. The name plate is worn so hard to tell what company it is. One of the the front & rear tires are rough, lots of checking. Needs a muffler and the extension pipe, PTO will not stop spinning and 3pt will not raise or lower. Owner is asking $1000. Not sure if I want to invest a lot of money in this, I don't mind the time to putter with it.

If the tractor has a factory installed hydraulic valve for operation of the loader that part alone is worth $500.00
If the front grill is intact and the plastic model it is worth 300-400
If the PTO clutch is in good condition it is worth $350.00
The cylinder head is worth $500.00

Easily worth $1000.00

It runs, has a loader, and power steering, and you can get it for $1,000? Buy it, its worth twice that.

Where does the hydraulic come from, for the loader?

I believe from the main hydraulic reservoir. Just ordered the service manual, can't get the right rear wheel to release. Another question is the PTO, it does not disengage. While I wait for the service manual to arrive any advice?

Yes check the fluid level for the hydraulic, check and see how much "snap" there is to the PTO clutch handle. Does the loader go up and down if it works on the tractor hydraulic system, back off on the brake adjuster.
