we are restoring a Oliver 60 the age is early 40s the body panel are made of aluminum. two questions 1)why are they made from aluminum.2) Does anyone have a set of front side panels that would fit.

I am working on a Ccckshutt 60 standard with the aluminum panels. it is a 1948. I think it was just some of the 48 production had the aluminum panels. After the war, airplane production was down and car production was up, so there was a surplus of aluminum and a shortage of steel, hence the aluminum panels on some 48 60's and 70's. There is a set of side (aluminum) on ebay right now I see.
is your 60 rowcrop or standard?

Its a standard
thanks for the info
Does the aluminum make the tractor more valuable ?

Now I am wondering what your serial number is? There were only about 1961 standards made up till 48. I am not sure how many were made in 1948 though. They are a little bit rare. I would think the aluminum hood make its a bit more valuable as does being a standard. There were 20257 row crops made up until 1948 per this website.
I will post some pictures and serial number of mine maybe tomorrow.

Don't know serial number plate is missing. Is there another place it is located on tractor? We are looking for a set of right side brake paddles nothing we have seen in bone yards here are the same.

Is the one you have for sale?
