Have a chance on 2-85 white. Open station tractor show 65xx hrs. Tractor looks average maybe a little below. Tires about 70% all the way around. 18-4-38 rears. Has top link needs seat. What are the good and bad on these tractors? Someone said basically 1855 with Perkins?

I have a 1976 model that I bought about 20 years ago. I just change oil when needed, check fluids, and use it. It has been a real good tractor for me. Don't know if you are use to whites or olivers, but they shift much easier in under drive, and the dry clutch will last longer also. But with with any 35-40 year old tractor, anything can happen, no matter what color it is.

bought a 2-85 new in 77, open station, now has few more hours than what your looking at, main planting, cultivating, round baler tractor for years, put clutch, throwout bearing, hydraulic pump , but other than that has been a good tractor, good starter good runner.

I have a 2-85 Red Stripe. In over 5000 hours we have replaced a water pump, main clutch, batteries, and rear tires. That's all. It is a good runner and we take care of it. If the one you are looking at has been serviced regularly and not abused, it will be a good tractor for you.
