1955 S88 Diesel head

I am planning to put intake seats in this head to bring the valves flush to the deck like the 1650 to help it start better.

These valves are around 0.045 deep into the head.

While I think it is I want to try and make sure the head can safely have seats put in. I was thinking I read the older heads couldn't have exhaust seats.
I looked valve heights and do not anticipate needing exhaust seats on this head.

One crack in this head runs down the chamber and stops above the seat. I see no evidence water leakage on it.

Thanks for any reply.

Well first of all there are 3 different Super 88 heads. So more information is needed such as casting numbers on the head and the diameter of the exhaust valves. Also direct injection heads have valve protrusion, Lanova heads have valve recession. I sent you an e-mail did you receive it? J.

Exhaust = 1.3 inches
Intake = 1.5 inches
192002A I believe is the casting number
1K180G I believe is the part number.

I couldn't find a date stamped into the front of the head and without explaining this might be a replacement motor from 1955.

If you see this I will be gone for a while after 6:30 3/25/2016.
