Super 77 diesel

Looking at an Oliver Super 77 diesel. Seems to be a decent tractor. I noticed that the serial tag is missing. Also noticed that the red paint was peeling in places from the rear wheels and it appears that they were originally green. I've read that the supers had green wheels up until 1957 or so. I assume someone repainted at least the wheels at some point. Any way to tell what year this tractor might be with any certainty without a serial tag? Maybe by casting numbers or certain options? Thanks in advance.

There are differences in those tractors. 1957 tractors have key start and the battery door is larger. By the starter there are 3 casting numbers, the Waukesha part number and the Oliver part number for the block + the date the block was cast. If it has a hydraulic unit it will have a serial number. If it has the original starter the 56 models have a shorter starter than the 54 & 55 models. Start there.
