Ain't he a Beaut? My wife has named him Homer. About a decade ago, she went looking for her dad at an auction. He spotted her from the middle of the crowd and waved at her to get her attention and took the winning (and only) bid with his wave. So he bought the tractor for her. My dad has been restoring antique tractors since he retired so my father-in-law brought Homer over for dad to help restore.

We do need a little help identifying Homer's serial number. We think he is number 30-1108 but the 8 is very faint and kind of far from the other numbers. What is everyone's opinion?

Hi,

Homer may have another number in the seral number................perhaps it is an 11000+ serial number making it a 1948 model.....look for a year number 48. in the serial number area. The first 1950 tractor had 6 bolt rear hubs. Homer has 9 bolt rear hub shown on the photo.

Thanks Phil,

I will try to scratch around on it a little more tonight and take some better quality pictures. I took these with my cell phone. I'll break out the Nikon and see if there is more to see.

It looks like there is a dash before the 30 in the picture. Maybe we can uncover the year model and know how much farther to go on the right hand side.

Good luck on your tractor. My son is currently restoring a Coop E3 (really the same thing as a Cockshutt 30) for an FFA restoration project.
I emailed a guy about some parts that I needed and he emailed me back and said my parts were going to be going out the middle of February, but I haven't heard back from him since.
I haven't received anything in the mail yet, so I don't know what is going on.

Thanks and good luck on your son's restoration. We are almost complete with Phase 1 of our house renovation. Last February, we bought a 1960 Ranch house. We've been working on it ever since. So this tractor project make take us a little longer than it would for some.
