Installing A Loader On An 1850

I have never been around an Oliver with a loader on it. A friend wants to sell me a loader that was on a 3020 JD. Is it reasonable to think it could be used on my 1850? Maybe new brackets to be made but what should I look for that would tell me to go ahead with the install or just stop now and not waste my time on something that is unreasonable.

The 1850 is a longer tractor. Will require some fabricating of parts. As mentioned below the 1850 is a lot more tractor than a 3020 is. A loader designed for a 3020 would require a bit of caution when used on an 1850. Now if you are a good fabricator, you can make about anything fit about anything else. My youngest son has a 4000 Ford which he fitted a loader from an old 800 series ford. He had to basically remodel the whole mounting assembly, but it turned out well.

It is a work master. Not ancient. I looked up the wheel base on the two tractors and the 1850 is longer. I'll have to put the tape measure to it. Good point about the size of the loader verses the power and size of the tractor.

If the loader used a separate valve rather than the tractor remote valves you will need to convert or replace the valve as JD 3020 is closed center and the 1850 is open center.

Well I was just informed the loader I am going to look at is on a 2630 John Deere and not a 3020. I will be next to my 1850 tomorrow and I am going to do a lot of measuring. Length width bolt holes distance to the front and to the rear axle.
Good advice about the open verses closed center issue!
