My 1650 has been sitting about 4 years.I want to insure the pump is ok before I try to start it.What can I do to check
this stanadyne injector pump?

Take loose all the injector line nuts and crank engine with the fuel stop in the run position, should be fuel at each injector if pump is working. No fuel probably means stuck internal parts, like plungers and metering valve. I've been repairing lots of pumps with stuck parts lately, most have set six months to a year. One gen-set pump only set three months but it had water in the fuel..

What you have is more forgiving than the PSB pump, even when the plungers stick the head and rotor still turn. If the head seizes the shaft will break to save the drive gears. Hopefully that has not happened.
