the coil on my white 2-44 is bad ,the present one has the #25262 on it but does not show if it is 6v or12v so what after mkt # (brand) do you recommend . I looked on ebay and really got confused thanks

Oliver and White HC (gas) engines all had 6 volt coils. The wire from the ignition switch has built in resistance to reduce the voltage down to about 7.2 when running.   The wire from switch to coil used has a known resistance per foot, thus it is long enough to reduce it down.   If you take off the wrapping, you will find that it is looped back and forth several times to get the proper length, thus proper voltage.
You also have a second wire from the starter solenoid to the coil + terminal.   This wire feeds Battery voltage the coil during starting to increase the available voltage during cranking.
