I am new to the site an posted the same question yesterday in the general tractor discussion, anyway I recently purchased a (according to the tag number) 1947 Oliver 70, my question is from what I have been reading on various other forums the Oliver 70 and cockshutt 70 were identical tractors both made by Oliver and used a contential motor, however the brass name plate on the side of my motor says cockshutt, thoughts???

I wouldn't overthink this.
Does it bother you or why are you posting about it? The motor could have been replaced or the tractor could have been repainted.
If you feel you really need to, you could find another tag that you consider correct and just rivet on a new tag.
I'd leave it. It's a nice conversation piece.

Look on the back of the transmission case if the word Oliver is not cast in the case it is 70 built for Cockshutt, You have an e-mail address?
