77 diesel hyd

I have a 77 with the regular short handle on the sides hyd unit on it..has no fluid in it and the handles wont stay in center..just flop back and forth...I also have an 880 parts tractor with the hyd unit with the handles on the top...unknown working condition on both as 880 has no engine and 77 I bought just last summer and pulled pto shaft so I did not run it dry as j always recommends not to do...will they interchange?...benefits of using the later unit?..i have no 3pt and tractor will mainly be used to brushog with a pull type 7 footer with a hyd cyl so what would you guys suggest?...thanks for any insight...im sure if I have to get into either unit I will have plenty more questions..thanks again

Use the 880 unit but check it out first. Questions?

Deene, The levers on the side were usually kind of loose. Does that unit have a filter? Before you put the 880 unit on the 77, do like Schwiebert says, and check it out. I have parts for it.
