Auction sale last month cousin called, there fixing to sell a cockshutt. What size, don't know no numbers on side. Its cream color
with square hood. It runs well , wide front, not dented badly. How big would you guess. Maybe little smaller than IH M . Buy it
if under 2K. I got it. Now what is it.Scrapped paint on frame , cannot find number or tag. It Has long metal flywheel cover like
Cockshutt 35. Good 3 point and live pto. Hydraulics has remote couplers also. Looks to have draft control on 3 point, however
there is a lever on rear of hydraulic control which moves left to right. Its not for remote or 3 point. I don't know what it does
unless part of draft control. Where is NO serial number and or ID tag. What do I have. Auctioneer said he didn't know and fellow
selling (not at sale) told auctioneer he didn't know just mowed with it for few years and never had to repair. Probably never
changes oil either!!! Further proof you cannot kill a Cockshutt. Help ID Please

To add to the other post. the 550 will have 38" rubber and you will find the ser# on top of the frame rail RIGHT side about half way back. The 550 used a clutch cover exactly like the 35 except there is no recess for the belt pulley gear box. Only the 540 and 550 used that type of hydraulic 3 point unit and the lever you speak of does enable the draft control.

Sounds like you lucked out and got a 500 series 550. I like any of the 500 series, but the 550 is pretty special. It pulled more in the Nebraska test than a 40 or 50, weighed less and had a way less power. Produced more drawbar HP than the 560 in first gear with 10 less pto hp. The 560 was no slouch in the Nebraska tests either. Enjoy it. I really like all the Hercules White, Oliver and Cockshutts!! I have a 35L, a 550 and a 570 gas plus 6 other Cocskhutt's and one VAO Case now. I never met a tractor I did not like!
Neil.

I have a 570 gas also. Could I bother you for a pic of the carburetor and how the gas line is routed?

Hi 770. I sent you an email but cannot attach pictures to it, so here are a few.
Have a good evening.
Neil
