1650 Gas - Water in oil

Checked oil in 1650 yesterday and looks like there is a small amount of water in the oil, starting to look a little brown, not black. Is there any other area for water to get in other than head gasket or sleeve seals?

This tractor sat in a shed with minimal use for quite a number of years from what I got out of the previous owner. Would like to just go ahead and get it fixed now before it becomes a real problem.

What do you need as far as tools to pull the sleeves? I assume I can pull the whole cylinder pack if I take the rod caps off?

I added 1 gal coolant and oil level seemed higher than last checked. I have not had a chance to run it under heavy load since I got it late fall. Could very well be condensation, it's that time of year.

My 77 and 1600 both do that. I use them every day but not enough to burn the moisture out. If I don't change oil in December,by February the water will freeze up overnight in such a thick block in the bottom of the pan that the oil pickup won't even suck. It's not antifreeze in them either,it's pure water.

Water in the oil is not good, but antifreeze in the oil will very quickly ruin the bearings. Could it be a casting plug in the head that is starting to weep?

I think I'd run it for a bit to warm it up and change the oil and filter and then watch it to see if it does it again before I would tear it apart. Chris

$26 for an oil analysis is cheap too. Need to grind feed next weekend. Will use 1650 and change oil after it's run a while under part load. Get a sample right after oil change and again after 20 or so hours and see if there is any (or a change) in glycol concentration.
