perkins rear main seal

hey guys got a question on the perkins engine used in the white 2-105. are they prone to rear main seal leaks? I'm getting ready to drop the engine back in after a clutch job and o/u rebuild. While cleaning up I picked up the old seal and realized it is not the same as the one I put in. The seal I put in was a regular oil seal while the old one has a micro groove seal similar to the ones on the 5.9 cummins. Dodge had a real problem with them leaking. I've got personal experience there. I picked up the new one at a local bearing supply when the dealer sent me one for another tractor. I missed the different type entirely till I now. My question is this do I disassemble everything and try to find this other type seal or will it be ok. I rather not have to pull this engine back out for an oil leak down the road. It's about as much fun as a root canal getting the fuel tank out of the way. Oh and if anyone has a secret on getting that tank back in I would appreciate it greatly. I'm getting ready to have the tank shortend by 2 inches to go back in. thanks craig

i think you have to lift up the front of the cab to get the tank in, loosen up front cab mounts and jack up

Is the new style seal one that has to be installed dry, like a teflon type? Those will almost always leak if you oil it like a regular seal, if you didn't notice it until after that point anyway...

seal is regular lip style in stalled. Didn't notice the old one was different just popped it out. was getting ready to put assembled engine clutch and o/u unit in. Noticed the different seal lying off to side Dealer had given me one for a different size crank. Since it is 85 mile round trip he gave me number and I picked up lip type seal there. My bad for not comparing it to old seal till now. Tractor has been apart before I believe. I don't want to put this thing back together and it leak. If there is an improved seal I'll just bite the bullet and tear it back apart. Better now than back together and it leak. This tractor has been apart so long it vdoesn't matter anymore. where could I obtain a new type seal if needed. thanks as always.
