I was talking to a guy he has a 1600 that he was pulling a load of hay with and it just stopped he thinks its stuck in gear but it will roll what could be some causes? He's got it at 1450 with a fresh motor and 4 new tires

If it were stuck in 2 gears, it should't roll, unless a spider, bull, pinion, etc in the rear end broke. If the chain coupler is not spinning with the clutch engaged (pedal up) with the engine running, then the center of the clutch disc probably broke out (somewhat common). Otherwise, could be input shaft splines, or something inside the transmission.

Nick: they have a six speed transmission. Does the gear shift go in all the positions? Are there any noises in the drive train? Take the shield off the drive shaft and see if it turns. Idle it down with transmission in neutraland put the transmission in a forward gear, do you here a grinding noise from the gears?

Thanks guys I haven't seen it and its 3/1/2 hours away so I'd have to b prepare to buy it to go look it over and after talking it over with my dad I don't have really have the funds right now either

You didn't say three and a half hours in which direction. If it's up north my way and MAX doesn't want to go after it,send me an email would you?

Sorry rrlund I just seen your post its south of me right by Cincinnati but I just went to post a link to the ad and it was gone

Oh well. If they're cheap and just something trivial wrong with them, they usually don't last long.
