Experimental 1600 Again

I cant remember who posted it but a while back somebody on here put up a picture of an experimental checkerboard 1600 with a 4 cylinder diesel in it and possibly a power booster instead of a hydra-power. Well apparently they made more than one of them because I was looking through our C.H. Wendell Oliver Hart Parr book tonight and I noticed on page 242 one of the pictures is of a checkerboard 1600 utility with a 4 cylinder diesel in it to.

I may have the serial tag for it. It had a funny spec and serial number. It came from Michigan.
I kept it thinking it could have been experimental.

When I toured the factory in the early fall of 1961 they probably had 4 or 5 of those at Charles City. The 4 cylinder engine was a version of the 1800 engine. I also got to sit on the first 1800A series with FWA. It was going to be shipped to Green Giant the next week to get some hours on it.

Do you know if it a short run engine that Oliver/Waukesha was just playing with or was it used in other applications? I was kinda wondering how hard it would be to come up with the parts to build one of those 1600's just for giggles and to say I had one.

J Wondergem posted that picture I think. Here it is again for anybody who hasn't seen it.

Thats what I thought at first to. I think it might be the same length though cause the bell housing is really far forward and it looks like the bottom part of the side tin is longer than normal to.

Does this prototype have a power booster drive? There is an extra long gearshift-type lever. Also it has the older style front wheels.
