Super Red Wheel Switch

Not really. Usually the next years production started around November first. You can have a red wheel super built in 1956.

Following are the starting serial numbers for Key start, big battery cover, tach, Oliver in the fenders and the red wheels:

[b:654c4848f0]Super 66[/b:654c4848f0] 50 586

[b:654c4848f0]Super 77[/b:654c4848f0] 47 552

[b:654c4848f0]Super 88[/b:654c4848f0] 49 250

First two digits in Specification numbers were changed also:

[b:654c4848f0]Super 66[/b:654c4848f0] from 16 to 26

[b:654c4848f0]Super 77[/b:654c4848f0] from 17 to 27

[b:654c4848f0]Super 88[/b:654c4848f0] from 18 to 28

The Super 55 did get the 12 volt-key start in January. I have seen 2 different dates on when that took place but both were in January.

There were a few 1957 super 88's that were green wheel. I didnt find the serial # for this tractor, but it states 1 of 33 green wheel diesels built in 1957. It doesnt appear to have the "improved" features though. Heres the link.

He might of checked his number. My employer also had one that had green wheels. Super 88 tractors with red wheels were not built till in April. Look at the starter, in 1956 they went to a shorter starter, this tractor has one on those as well.

I was told once that the green wheels were a cost saving measure to make the tractors more cost competitive. Anyone else ever hear this story?
