I have a late Oliver 80 that runs very well, but.. The governor has a nasty habit of surging. Before it is hot it wants to kill the engine and even at operating temp, it stumbles and "hunts". Had it on a dyno a while back and it would not settle down under load. The dyno operator at the tractor show said it was common for those models to do that and it was hard to get an accurate reading. I think there is quite a bit of slop in the linkage that has several moving parts near the carb. So, does anyone have any suggestions for smoothing out the running of that 4cyl Waukesha engine. It doesn't surge while idling, only when the gov. tries to kick in.
Thanks,
Jerry
