Why won't oil light go out?

I have an Oliver 1655 diesel that I put an oil light from a 1600 on. I did because relatives were leaving tractor switched on and as a safeguard against low oil pressure. When running gauge says 75 to 80 lbs.Oil light stays on. I changed the sender but didn't change. Checked oil gallery and not plugged. What am I missing?

Yes because the switch provides the ground for the circuit. When oil pressure builds after starting the engine the switch breaks the ground and light goes out. Could new switch be bad?

Did you check wire between light and switch? Wire to switch could be grounding out and completing the circuit, regardless of what switch is doing.

Sorry, reread your post that light does go out if disconnected from switch, which would mean wire to switch should be good. I hate doing swapnostics, but I guess I'd try another switch.
