Pin stuck in lower 3 point arm

Wanted to see if any of you guy's have any tricks for removing pin that is stuck in the ball. I sprayed it last night with PB blaster and don't want to cut the pin off just yet. It is on my White but is similar to 1555-1655. The other pin came out with my fingers and I thought that was to easy!

I had the exact same thing with my 1550 and the ball was very loose in the arm. I ended up sawing the pin on both sides of the ball. Wedge it out tight and clamp the head of the pin to keep it from turning while you saw. Saw the inside first. Then wedge it in and saw the outside. No fun. I used a recipro saw for most of it till I ran out of blades. I finished with a hack saw. My 12 ton press could not budge the pin.

Mike, my cheap hack saw blades didn't even touch it. I'm going to try thin cutting wheel on my grinder and some better blades next. Going to grab sawzall from work, my Milwaukee has a set screw that loosens up during use. Thanks for the reply. Greg

Cutting through that pin with a sawzall would not be fun! I guess it is too close to the transmission to put a torch on it.

I was going to get some thin cutting wheels for my grinder because its really tight in that spot. One guy suggested drilling the end of the pin and using a bolt to pull it but might as well cut it like Mike said. How is your 1650 tractor project coming?

Weld a 3/4" nut to the end of the pin, make a puller from a threaded rod screwed into the nut and a suitable piece of pipe with a thick washer or piece of 1/2" thick flat bar with a 3/4 hole in it over the threaded rod , run another nut on the (oiled) rod and pull the pin out by tightening the nut.

It's going good Greg. Ready to put it to work soon doing some 'logging'. I would post some pictures but cannot, must have peed off the YT admins.

That might work, bison, but there isn't much to weld to and the pin may break at the groove. When I got mine out my 12 ton press couldn't push it out of the ball. Had to wail on it with a good drift and the BFH over an anvil.

Thanks Bison, I hope to get it in the shop soon. The tractor has a hydraulic leak in the differential lock as well as the brake seals. The differential lock has a roller bearing that disintegrated in the housing so it needs some work. Here are some pics of the differential lock that is basically an add on to the 1555 rear end. You have to pull this assembly to replace brake disc's kind of unhandy! Greg

guess a guy could weld the rod straight to the pin. I doubt that pin won't break at the groove.
You would be amazed how many tons of straight pull a 1/2" bolt can handle.
There seems enough room to put a torch in there to heat the ball up.
It'll pop right out.
