305 Chevy in Oliver 60?

I have recently picked up a Oliver 60 and was wondering if I could b
put a chevy small block in it just for a toy to mess around with maybe pull it? But,my question is will the rear end hold up or will this not work at all?

If you were to stick to the max engine revs as indicated for the 60 (1500rpm), no bother I would think.

Whacking a huge HP/torque through the trasmission would likely overstress something to the point of breakage.

This is a great question: Torque is what breaks parts, more so than simply the engine capability. The torque output from the engine is multipied by the transmission and sent to the rear axles through the rear end gears. The maximum torque to the rear axles will occur in the lowest gear. However, the once the rear tire(s) spin, the torque is at a maximum regardless of the engine or its capability. In conclusion, if you are reasonable with the weight on the rear wheels the rear end should be fine regardless of engine capability. Traction will limit the load the rear end will see.
