1850 Hydraulic Question

Can you run a hydraulic drive sprayer pump on a 1850? A sale coming up has a pretty nice older John Deere 550 sprayer with a hydraulic drive pump. Could I run it with the 1850 or would it have to be changed over to PTO drive? Thanks, Chris

I think the oil would get hot sooner than you wanted it to. I had a hydraulic drive auger on a feed grinder that ran off the tractor hydraulics. By the end of a load of feed you couldn't lay your bare hand on the filter housing. If I tried to grind a second load,it kept wanting to stop.

I think you can if the 1850 is set up for this. Maybe John S. can tell us.Have an 1850 and think I used it on hyd. sprayer pump!!! Been a long time ago, getting to old to remember. It may tell in manual!! jps

If that sprayer was used with a tractor that had closed center hydraulics he will need a motor that would work better with open center systems or the system will heat up REAL quick!
