Cockshutt 40 input shaft seals

Without much luck I haven't found a whole lot of information about what seals are on the transmission input shaft for a 52 Cockshutt 40 with live power. It must have seals inside the snout coming off the front of the transmission, and needle bearings supporting the outside shaft. Anyone have any part numbers for the 2 seals? Agcopartsbooks doesn't list anything in there for seals. Any help appreciated,

Thanks
Richard

I sent you an email. There are no seals on that shaft, just a bearing on the rear end. The front end pilots in the flywheel coupling. PTO drive shaft is supported at the flywheel coupling and PTO end. Is yours leaking?

Hi,

Mike is correct!!!!

The spiral spring on the live PTO shaft is approx. 12 inch wrapped around the shaft under the trans. cover. This spring serves as an oil slinger to keep trans. oil from following the shaft forward to the clutch. ONLY,the Cockshutt 500 series tractors use a front trans. seal.

if you have pulled the pto and pto drive shaft using the tractor for a puller you will need to plug the torque tube in order to prevent oil from getting into the flywheel clutch area. Also do not overfill the rear-end with gear lube.
