1755 water pump

I needed a new water pump on the 1755 and had a hard time removing the pulley from the old pump, so thought I would be smart and lube the shaft when I pressed the pulley on the new water pump. Not so smart, pulley came loose and the fan blades into the radiator. Question, what now, will the pulley stay if I clean it up and press on dry? Thanks

A press fit is a press fit. Any oil or grease will wipe off if it's a proper fit. If it's a little loose, you can use Loc-tite bearing retainer (green), but it sounds like either the pulley is bored to big or the shaft is too small. Only way to know is start measuring.

If a pulley goes on too easy, I always weld the pulley and bearing shaft.
Just dig in enough with rod so it holds. Never had a problem and only had one come off in almost 50 years(no weld).
If you ever have to pull pulley, grind off the little welds.
